Womens
team suffers home defeat
Monday,
November 20, 2006
In
one of their preparations for the 2006-2007 LAPPRISA basketball
tournament, the Bloomfield Girls Basketball Team fall in an exhibition
matchup against Southville International School, 25-19 at the
Bloomfield Covered Court.
The
cagebelles trailed throughout the contest by double-figures as
Southville capitalized on a number of turnovers by the home squad
and took a 20-12 halftime lead.
However,
by the final quarter, Bloomfield managed to reduced the deficit
as defense led to baskets mostly by MC Sundian, the team's leading
scorer. But with time winding down, Southville was able to protect
their lead to secure the win.
Despite
the loss, head coach Weng Carballo stressed that the game was
more of trying to learn the team's weaknesses in order to prepare
them for the upcoming tournament.
The
annual LAPPRISA sports event starts on November 25th at the University
of Perpetual Help System-Dalta campus.
