Bloomfield
Academy killed off a late rally in the final moments to score
its first victory with an 80-76 victory over arch-rival Divine
Light Academy in the 2006 LPSAA Men's Basketball tournament at
the Southville International School on September 23.
The
team was led by Aron Pante and Kim Domingo as the cagers led for
most of the contest and finally overcame a late surge by DLA.
With the win, the team improved to a 1-3 win-loss card, keeping
its hopes for a Final Four berth alive with three games left to
play.
Pante
scored a career-high 34 points along with 15 rebounds, five steals
and a block delivering one of the biggest individual performances
in Bloomfield basketball history.
It
was the first matchup of Bloomfield and Divine Light since the
two met in a closely-fought encounter in the 2004 LPSAA Final
Four when the cagers from the deeper part of BF Resort won 90-85
over the Manuela-based squad.
Key
matchups for Bloomfield in their next few games will be against
Southville and Blessed Trinity School.
